Ballet master / Ballet mistress (m/f/d)

Richard Siegal / Ballet of Difference is an alternative to institutionalised ballet. The company unites outstanding artists from various nations and cultures each bringing a unique set of skills which are incorporated into the work of the company. The team of 14 dancers have been assembled from both the international freelance scene as well as celebrated full-time ballets. The artistic complexity and diversity that Richard Siegal / Ballet of Difference strives to include pushes the boundaries of what is considered normative in today’s society. Founded originally as a freelance group based in both Cologne and Munich, since the 2019/20 season, Schauspiel Köln is the home of what has become the permanent ballet of the city of Cologne.
The repertoire includes creations and pre-existing ballets by Richard Siegal on and off pointe such as Unitxt, My Generation, BoD, Liedgut, Metric Dozen, New Ocean, All For One And One For The Money und Shoe For The Toe.

The ballet master / ballet mistress has the following responsibilities:
– Teaches daily classical training
– Assists artistic director, guest choreographer or guest rehearsal director during rehearsals
– Rehearses and coaches the repertoire as well as new creations
– supervises performances
– is jointly responsible for the rehearsal planning
– acts as a link between the ensemble, ballet office, theatre and artistic direction
– is responsible for archiving and notation of the repertoire
– accompanies the company on tour

One-year contract, with the possibility of extension
Start of work: September 1, 2021
The employment relationship is based on the provisions of the NV Bühne (Solo)


– Very good level in classical dance technique with the ability to lead demanding ballet training
